New Feature: Multi-Level Location Tax Configuration

We are excited to introduce the Multi-Level Location Tax feature in the Invoice Management app. This new capability allows users to configure and apply tax rates based on detailed geographical hierarchies such as country, state, county, and city—ensuring compliance with diverse jurisdictional tax requirements.

Key Capabilities

Users can now configure the complete location structure (Country → State → County → City) for:

  • Plant Locations
Add a new location through the location module, requiring Country, State and City.
  • Project Company and Client Company Locations

Add a new (Project or Client) Company, requiring Country, State, and City.
  • To update master data efficiently, use the export-import process via the Location Module, Company Module, and Import Module.
Export company data to alter location through the import module.

2. Add Tax Locations

  • Access the Tax Rates module to start configuring tax data.
  • Use the Add Tax Location action to select relevant countries.

  • Upon saving, the system begins importing all sub-location data.
  • A confirmation message and notification will indicate successful completion.

3. Configure Tax Rates by Jurisdiction

  • View and expand the location tree by country, state, county, and city.

Add tax rates for each jurisdiction:

  • Define effective start and end dates.

Add an effective start date and an optional end date.
  • Set fixed values or production-based brackets (e.g., based on kWh consumption).

Select either Fixed or Production-Based Tax.
Add Fixed Tax Form.
Add Production-Based Tax Form.

Benefits

  • Improved tax calculation accuracy based on regional regulations.
  • Simplified maintenance of tax rules across multiple business units.

  • Added UI components to show tax hierarchy and rate configuration clearly.
  • System messages guide users through the import and setup steps.
  • Refer to the in-app help or documentation for annotated screenshots and examples.

Important Notes

  • This release includes preloaded tax rates for most U.S. jurisdictions.
  • Users can overwrite system defaults with custom or production-based values.
  • Ensure all required locations are fully configured to enable tax application.
